I saw this a long time ago on the 'Insomniac' show, hosted by Dave Attel. I was like O_O WHAAAAT?! but it makes sense to me now (mind you, I was like... 13? 12?). It's a little bizarre to my American mind to see huge penises and other genital memorabilia floating around, even though this country is so over-sexed. I like Europe's take on nudity; it's just a body and bodies are beautiful. If we saw breasts, other than huge fake implants on sexy women, a little more often I think we'd calm down lol.

On topic!: I think this comes from Shinto traditions? Shinto is a little more primal than Buddhism, and fertility celebration (at least so blatantly sexual) is common in more "primitive" or earth-based religions, and usually means more than just "sex", like success of crops and animal stock, etc. I want to go see this XD

just for information: Japanese people cosidered to be a nation with one of the smollest amount of sexual activity, according to media.
I never have been in Brazil, but I've heard that during their carnivals(especially, on second or third day) you can see all kind of nudity and a lot of sex. :wink:
