I love old japanese movies!
(made between 1930s-1970]
My favorites are:
*Seven Samurai*
*Samurai Rebellion*
*The Samurai*
*The Samurai 2*
A movie I've been trying to find is * A Geisha* its in black and white and its about a Geisha who was attacked by a client and she defends herself by fighting back and is then blacklisted by teahouses.
Anyone else like old Japanese movies? If so, which ones?

Oh, I think I've seen something like that. But it was about a maiko, not a geisha. Her oneesan got in trouble, too, and they couldn't make any money. Her oneesan saved them both by taking a danna that she didn't like. I think it was called Music of Gion, or something like that. You can find that on youtube.

I found a DVD in my university's library called The Geisha House. It didn't look that old but it was very nicely done, sensitive and moving.

I love 'Gion Bayashi' (gion festival music) aka 'A Geisha'. It's one of my favorites. They did a really good job on the costumes!

I also love any movie with Misora Hibari in it. One of my favorites is 'Zuko beranme Geisha'.
And the film 'Killing in Yoshiwara' aka 'Yoshiwara:The Pleasure Quarter'. That's a great film also.

One of the best movies I have seen about the flower and willow world is "Sakuran". You can either buy a copy or bittorrent it. It is amazing. It's about the life of an Oiran named Kyoha and is based on a manga of the same name.

I'm sure you can find a million copies of it online just by searching Google video. That's what I always do.

There's another movie I've been looking for but I can't remember the name. There are clips of it on youtube just search [ samurai montage ] It has a scene where a samurai breaks into a house and it is full of women in kimonos & they all pull out swords and all you can see is girls running around and rolling on the ground and the samurai's severed limbs falling to the ground.
Has anyone seen it?
