I loved that Vogue shoot. I want a chinchilla fur coat like that.

My favorite of Hatsumomo's kimonos is the red one she wears in the MoaG scene where she tells chiyo "your hands smell like fish, I can't have you touching my things"
That kimono looks so light and airy.
I wonder what its made out of and where I can find one just like it.
* does anyone know what Hatsumomo's name means*

Hatsu means first or new and momo means peach.
Here's the kanji- 初桃
I liked Hatsumomo's ensembles the best because they had the most drama, but I liked a few of Mameha's as well, like this and this, and I absolutely hated Sayuri's and Pumpkin's. Look how terrible Sayuri's kitsuke is in this pic.

I do like Hatsumomo's Tomesode and her updo.
Everyone needs to watch Sakuran, it's so much better as far as movies about the Hanamachi go. Oiran, proper kitsuke, amazing scenes, believable characters...oh and fights...lots of them!

Sakuran was awesome! The director was great. One person I know stated the difference between the movies and their directors quite well, as 'Director Ninagawa understood the Pleasure Quarters and made deviations that helped a modern audience relate, while Marshall stumbled about in the dark.' I adore the bright colors and flashy costumes of Sakuran, even though they aren't seasonally appropriate, because I think that's how the Tayuu's costume would have evolved over time if given the chance.

I could give you the torrent if you want.
I torrent a lot of my foreign movies, and it's pretty trustworthy.
Viruses are actually rather hard to get, you might have a lot of spyware on your computer, you also need to clear out your cookies at least once or twice a month if not more.
