Oh my gosh, I love this thing and would LOVE to put on a hiki like this...but being that I don't know anything about kimono condition...I would appreciate any opinions you all could offer. I mean, the photos don't show anything Earth-shattering. I mean, there are snapped stitches along one side...but beyond that...I dunno!

that is not a geisha Hikizuri... it looks more like a furisode or wedding furisode that was changed into something similar to a Hikzuri.

honestly... you find better than that... but it's only my opinion

...now that's something I never would have picked out. You have a good eye. It's definitely making me rethink things, that's for sure...

Uchikake or one of those Nihon Buyo Hikizuri's. Those sellers always mark them as "Geisha Hikizuri". They are just trying to fool people and get more money out of them.

Recently, I know Japanese Antiques bought out a lot of kimono from a stage company, and that's where these are from. They're stage Hikizuri and probably used for the sort of dances that our favorite Taichi Saotome does. The kimono that are being sold are very similar to the type of hikizuri used in those sort of productions, flashy and extravagant. While it's not a real Geisha's hikizuri, some of them are used to be portrayed as Geisha.

They probably should've used 'For Geisha Cosplay,' but I can't really fault them, because they probably did pay quite a lot for these pieces and they want to get out what they put in. Normally Japanese Antiques will start bid at $9.99 or less. . .

I like it. I have never bought a kimono before but from a few of the pictures, it looks extremely wrinkly... Is that normal when you buy kimono over the internet?

158 cm wingspan? :o

That's way too much for most women but this would be a great kimono for a guy who wants to do geisha cosplay.

It doesn't look like quality to me. I think you would be much better off purchasing something that you can actually use, either for wearing or showcasing. There are much more beautiful Kimono out there.

GAUDY!!! MY EYES!

And that's coming from me, and I'm little miss flashy gaudy "Oiran-sama" herself!

You could find so much better and for a lot less. It's a good thing you turned to us for some advice.

I saw those, I want the black one with the bamboo but it's totally out of the budget right now.

That's the one I wanted on Ryuu's site, but it's a bit out of the budget right now, if you're willing to fight for it go for it. I like it, but I doubt I will get it. Make sure it gets a good home.
