Bonjour everyone!
My name is Delphine and I live in the south west of France.
Well I guess that just as many of you I have always been interested in maiko and geiko but this had been amplified by the reading of the too famous "MoaG"...
Japan as a whole had always fascinated me too, and at last my dream came true: i had the chance to travel around Japon last September. The whole trip was amazing but my best memory remains that of two lovely maiko on whom we stumbled on, all of a sudden, after leaving Gion. To my own surprise, I was just paralized, couldn't breathe, couldn't move, couldn't say anything. I can't even find the words. I eventually managed to take a picture (here is the link:

I have now started learning japonese and can't wait to go back to this wonderful country. Then, if i ever get the chance to meet a maiko/geiko again, I hope i'll manage to say at least "hello" and won't stay paralized as i did on my first encounter with them!
Thanks to everyone for sharing all your knowledge/pictures on them.
Merci
