Avatars and copyright...

As many of you have noticed, many of the avatars i create are taken from beautiful photographers from very talented persons.

I think that they deserve much more credit as they are getting from us and as for this reason, i have started asking those photographers permission for using their photos for creating avatars.

So far, i have got some positive and negative answers. This means, that i will remove the avatars i created for which i don't have permission to use the photos. I will also message users that use avatars showing photos of those photographers and ask to change their avatar.

For those for which i have permission, i will systematically post a link back to the photographer and his online site from which i took the picture. I am also thinking of creating a link for users to post in their signature linking back to the photographer, but it's not sure yet. it depends on the photographer...

In the meanwhile, i will restructure the avatar thread, which might take some time to do. I will still be open for requests and questions.

i think it's just fair to give all these great people the credit to show that it was them who made the pictures.

i don't want to get emails saying that "person stole my photos etc." That's why i only post avatars of users that gave me personnaly their agreement. (aka, i keep the emails with thair agreement in case they come to me to complain)

if you have friends here that want to use your avatars, i have no problem, as long as you don't "post" the avatars on a thread.

what you can aslo do, is putting a link to your avatars in your signature... but if i get a complaints about the photographers, i will have to pm you about it. ok?
